Judge Elkin has practiced law in the Greater Hartford area since 1972. He has focused on real estate, probate, and civil and criminal litigation and is now “Of Counsel” to Shimkus, Murphy and Rosenberger, PC of Hartford, CT.
He graduated from Franklin & Marshall College and the University of Connecticut School of Law and holds a Master’s Degree in Spanish Literature from Trinity College. He is a former Prosecutor in the West Hartford Superior Court, Assistant Corporation Counsel for the Town of West Hartford, Hearing Officer for the Department of Motor Vehicles and Chairman of the West Hartford Zoning Board of Appeals.
He has been active in his community as past President of the Greater Hartford Jaycees, Probus Club of Greater Hartford and the Emanuel Synagogue and has served as coach in the West Hartford Boys’ Soccer and Baseball leagues.
Judge Elkin served as Probate Judge from 2002 through 2016. He presently serves as Past President – Judge of the Probate Assembly and is a committee member of the Continuing Education and Legislative Committees.
He is a member of the Connecticut and Hartford County Bar Associations.
